This module deals with physical care in general and with the care of skin, blisters and wounds in particular. Attention is also paid to eye care.

Physical care is very important for EB-patients to keep the skin in optimal condition. Attention should be paid to the implementation of care but also to clothing and footwear to prevent blistering. This module also focuses on the bed and sleeping environment.

General principles for physical care are:

• prevention of friction;

• carry out measures to prevent the effects of excessive heat and/or cold.

The following aspects are subsequently discussed:

• bathing;

• skin care;

• dressing;

• clothing;

• eye care;

• foot care;

• attention for bed and sleeping environment;

• first aid kit;
