Attention for bed and sleeping environment

Preferably, the height of the bed is adjustable, so that the patient has no problems getting into and out of the bed. Some patients like to have an adjustable bedhead so they can find a comfortable position to sleep in.

The mattress should give adequate support to the body. The hardness or softness of the mattress depends on the patient's individual preference. But, immobile / bedridden patients are advised to not wear any clothing. In this case, the bed needs to be changed once or twice a day. Extreme friction as the result of, for example, hems and seams of sheets should be prevented. In addition, it is sometimes necessary to cover the bedsides with extra pillows.

The atmospheric environmental temperature should not be too warm for the patient. An excessive temperature causes perspiration. This may cause the skin to become itchy and more vulnerable to blistering. The air should not be too dry or too moist. For this the same applies, that is that it also depends on the patient's individual preference.
